17 things i learned during my 17 years of living

Hi

Im making this entry not because i knew everything already and i feel like im the best person in the world who has her life figured out and ready to live the rest of her journey til she dies, no, totally the opposite of that.

Im making this because i want to be grateful for all the things that had happened in my life. All the things that whether i realized it or not, changed me and taught me things.

Ps. Even tho some of them may sound like jokes, most of them are serious.

1. Acceptance is important
It is everything about accepting. Whether it is accepting yourself, what you have at the moment, nor what you are going to have in the future. There were eras in my life where I cried hard (and by hard i mean not just for a day) because of simple things. Such as when i didnt get into the school that i wanted and.. yes, when zayn left one direction and maybe there are more. But then you would realize, after two years, it wont matter anyway. Thats where i meant to be. That times, i learned a lot about accepting and gratefulness (im not talking about zayn). It was hard for me to do so, i dont know why. I made troubles more than i should've done. And i swear, i hate troubles. But it just happened. Junior high was quite cursed years for me. And im sure it has a thing to do with acceptance. Im sure its hard, it even took me so long to do so. But believe me, if you try, its such a relief. Honestly, i feel like i was a whole new me when i accepted it. And that is such a great feeling ever.

2. Do something that scares you
No, im not telling you to jump off a cliff without safety. The "go-out-of-your-comfort-zone" famous phrase is what im talking about. Its so cliche yet so true. By doing this, even it can causes anxiety and so many nerve wracking feelings, you will see how wonderful you can be. Im not kidding. You are more than you thought you were.

3. Be kind to everyone
Because you dont know what someone is going through. Unless if the person is mean to you. Youre not a saint or an angel, just do whatever you want.

4. Amazing-High-School-Year is based on you
For me, high school is not as amazing as the movies nor novels have described. Its also not as dramatic as the movies nor novels have described. High school year is just... Okay, this far tho. There were times in my life where i said that i hate school so much but its just because im too tired and too exhausted for the things that i have to do. Other than that, you will enjoy meeting many types of people, from normal to weird to odd to creepy. But an amazing-high-school-life can actually be created by you.

5. Do exercise, so you can be tall
Im short as a hobbit. And yes, the weather is hot down here. When i was in 8th grade I literally compare my height to Harry Styles' height so i can visualize if we met and i would just be able to reach his shoulder (almost close) yes im so stupid i know.

6. Stay away from toxic people
Well idk but im sure there is always that someone. That someone who insults you, whether its yourself, your environment, the people who surround you, or even your family. And sometimes its not because they envy you. Well most of the time, yes. But sometimes, just sometimes, thats not the reason. Sometimes the reason is just that they are toxic. And mean. And cruel. And they're just axxholes.

7. City lights can light up your heart
When youre inside a high building and youre in the seventh floor or more, look out the window and you would see a wonder. Its so calming to see those lights, whether its from the streets, the vehicles, the other building's windows, and also the busy streets and busy people. Like... I dont know, its just beautiful.

8. Bad sushi could literally gives you salmonella bacteria. Its disgusting
Just please. Sushi is so freaking good. But you better buy the expensive ones. Thats fine. Its way better than to be having typhus for a week and just able to do a bed rest while your friends at school are fixing their exam scores but you are tortured by your mind telling that youre gonna fail and have a dark future. Im rambling. My point is just one thing, eat THE ACTUAL fresh sushi.

9. Read a worthwhile novel
Cheesy and corny novels are good. Sometimes. But the other times its just too cringy to read and suddenly it feels boring. Read a worthwhile novel. Ones that have a decent conflict, like a reality. Because you just dont play a random staring challenge with a stranger across the room then suddenly be a couple. No.

10. Every boyband, girlband, vocal group or whatever it is (especially the ones from us and uk) are actually meant to be teared apart.
Yeah dont say anything about this just shut up and cry.

11. When you listen to Why Dont We Go There by One Direction while youre in a plane you would actually feel like flying

12. Dont ever hold your poop
Just DONT. Dont you ever. Dont you dare. It hurts so bad and its also not good for your digestion system. Even if youre in the middle of an exam. Because lets be real they aint gonna pay for your surgery if something bad happens to you. F them. (im totally kidding)

13. Quick getaway is definitely a stress relief
Of course it is. If it isn't, why the hell do Saturday and Sunday exist? Plan an unexpected trip on D-3. Book a random hotel for you to stay (just make sure its not haunted). Enjoy the view from big windows, enjoy the breakfast, go out and make memories. Forget about responsibilities. No. Im kidding. We dont live in Dubai, for God's sake. Just do anything instead of studying. That is the real definition of stress relief if you ask me.

14. Your mistakes dont define you
"Don't regret what's done. We all make mistakes and we're all human. And its all part of life. Learning, growing from our experiences." I found this quote in one of Tiffany Alvord's youtube videos. And it has stuck in my mind ever since i watched it. Idk why, it just sounds so... right.

15. Having a resting bitch face doesn't mean that you are depressed. Or cruel. Or unfriendly.
OMG. THIS. Don't you just hate it when:
"are u ok?"
"why don't u smile more?"
"cemberut aja sih, Dhil"
Like.. Well this is how i actually look. But the most frustrating thing is if you have a really bitchy resting face and you're also a moody person. Which is me.  But ugghh i didn't mean to! I want to be nice, and I thought I've smiled already. But apparently my 'smily' face doesn't count as one. Not even close.

16. Learn a sign language
There are so many languages in this world but I think the most interesting one is sign language. When i was in 9th grade, i was excited to see some videos to do it but now in my second year of high school, i just remembered how to sign 'thank you' and 'i love you'. I think this is very cool. Especially between you and your best friend. So when you dont like someone you can just sign "she's such a biatch" to each other. No, im kidding. It's kinda important, like you don't know but you can meet deaf people everywhere. And if youre happen to have a simple convo with them, wow that would be sweet.

17. Love your family
Duh, what a cliche ending! But its true. I can appreciate my life more everytime im around with them. Because even if shit happens, we are still surrounded by the people we love and the ones who loved us. I can appreciate my life more also after i watch family movies such as Alexander and The Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day. Or after i read the Bliss Bakery novel trilogy. Man, family is everything.
